MOTOR TUNE-UP — BE ACCURATE! ALWAYS USE FEELER GAUGES!
CAUTION: Change worn or leaky flange gaskets. Tighten manifold bolts and test compression before adjusting carbureter.

BRIEF CARBURETER ADJUSTMENTS
PUMP ADJUSTMENT: (388S only) With pump connector link in place, throttle adjustment screw backed out, pump plunger should travel 19/64" from closed to wide open position. Use gauge T109-117S. Adjustment can be made by bending throttle connector rod at lower angle.
METERING ROD ADJUSTMENT: (All models except 388S) Insert gauge (T109-25) in place of metering rod, seating tapered end in metering rod jet. Hold gauge vertical to Insure seating. Metering rod pin in pump arm should rest at bottom of notch in gauge with throttle fully closed and upper end of connector rod centering freely in hole in pump arm. If It does not, bend lower end of throttle connector rod, so that top end centers freely in hole. Remove throttle connector rod from carbureter to bend.
Remove gauge, replace metering rod and disk and metering rod spring. Be sure rod is in jet. If rod shows wear, replace both rod and jet.
(388S) Insert gauge (T109-25) in place of metering rod. Hold gauge vertical to insure seating in jet. Bend lip on step-up piston so that when link is pushed down all the way, with throttle valve seated, there is less than .005" clearance between metering rod pin and shoulder of notch in gauge. Remove gauge, Insert rod, disk and spring.
ANTI-PERCOLATOR ADJUSTMENT: (All models except 388S) Back out throttle lever adjusting screw. Do not disturb metering rod setting. With throttle valve tightly closed, adjust hp on pump arm to depress anti-percolator stem to indicator line flush with top of anti-percolator plug.
Early models do not have indicator line. Insert .020" gauge (T109-29) between throttle valve and bore of carbureter on side opposite port. Lip on pump arm should be adjusted to give .005"-.015" opening between lip and anti-percolator stem. Use feeler gauge to secure proper setting.

(388S) Insert .030" gauge (T109-29) between lower edge of throttle valve and bore of carbureter on side opposite port. Adjust anti-percolator arm so that there is a clearance of .005"-.015" between it and pump arm with anti-percolator cap seated.

FAST IDLE ADJUSTMENT (351S-385S-388S) Adjust fast idle link so there is %" clearance between inside wall of air horn and lower edge of choke valve, with throttle lever adjusting screw locked against first or upper step on fast idle cam. (No fast idle adjustment on 327S-339S-342S.)

UNLOADER ADJUSTMENT: (327S-339S-342S) With throttle wide open adjust curved lip on fast idle block so lower edge of choke valve is %" from inner wall- of air horn.

(351S-385S-388S) At wide open throttle adjust cam on throttle lever to give 4's" clearance between lower edge of choke valve and wall of air horn.

LOCK-OUT ADJUSTMENT: (All models except 388S) With throttle and choke valves wide open, adjust lip on fast idle link to give 1/32" clearance between lip and throttle lever lock. 388S should have 1/16" clearance between choker lever and top end of fast idle link.
