They should be assembled in the order shown in In assembling the gear shift forks
to the shafts, first place the shifting fork plunger spring in the fork and assemble
the steel ball. With a short piece of an old shifting shaft, force the steel
ball down on the spring. See Fig. 133. This short piece of an old shifting shaft
will hold the steel ball down and also act as a guide in assembling the shifting
shafts into position.
Replacement of Transmission
The operations for assembling the transmission to the chassis are just the reverse
